Dear Parents,

Here are some of the things the children have been working on this  week.
Language Art:  We have been playing to identify the letters and do it very fast. And we have been reviewing the Hihg Frecuency Words.
Reading minutes: Please continue to keep track of your child's reading minutes and submit to me every Friday. When your child reaches 200 minutes they will recieve a special achievement bracelet from the school. This reading challenge goes until the last Friday in January.
Math:  This week the children have been practicing numbers from 0 to 100, I had the time with the chronometer. We have been playing to identify the numbers.
Social Studies: We started our community helpers and have learning about the various jobs that people have in our community. This Friday , we had a visit from a dietitian mum that talked about healthy food.we would still like to have a parent who is in the medical profession (ie.  nurse, doctor, vet, chef, farmer, mail carrier, dentist, hairdresser, plumber, pilot, military...) we would love to have you come and share for about 20 min. with the children (grandparents, aunts and uncles would be great as well). They enjoy this so much!! Next week will be our last week on community helpers so please let us know by e-mail and we can schedule a time for you to come in. Thanks!!!
Arts and crafts:  we are going to continue making a picture of a spanish painter called Velazquez.
Music and dance:  We are learning a spanish song talking about the peace. And we are going to practice the dance called sevillanas.
Gym: We are going to learn a new spanish game called "A la zapatilla por detrás".
Show and tell: The children need to  bring something that start with the letter Jj.

Spanish:  We are going to review the comunity helpers and the clothes.

Fiesta grande: The Kindergarden will be having their Fiesta Grande on Friday, January 28. The children will be making 1  instrumental crafs and will need to bring 2 toilet paper rolls by Friday to make maracas. We will also be having tortilla chips and salsa to eat in the classroom. We are having a pinata and the children will each recieve 5 wrapped candies from the pinata to bring home.
Fieldtrip: All classes of Kindergarten students will be going on their second fieldtrip to the Ogden Nature Center in Ogden on Wednwsday February 2. We will leave the school at 8: 15 a.m. and returning approx. 12:15 p.m. The students do NOT need to bring a lunch and they will be dismissed upon returning to the school. Childern should wear warm outdoor clothing as they will be outside for about 1 hour of the time. Snow pants, warm jackets, warm mittens, hats and snow boots will allow them to be warm and dry and better able to snowshoe and focus on the activities the Naturalist has planned for them  The entrance fee for the students will be $ 3.50 and the school will pay the cost of the school bus for our transportation. Permission  slips for the trip are coming home today, Friday, January 21. Please sing and return with the entrace fee by FRIDAY, JANUARY 28.

Thank you very much.
