Friday Note (May. 9- May 13, 2011)

Dear Parents,

During this week and the rest of the following one we are going to make a big review of all the concepts learned this year.


LANGUAGE ART ( we are going to continue writting in our alphabet book, remembering all the high frecuency words)

MATH (we are going to make adittions and subtractions, we are going to measure things and review the time)

Arts and crafts (we are goint to finish the ladybug and the ant)

Show and tell:  (we are going to continue with the travels) 

Spanish:  (we are doing a book in spanish reviewing all the vocabulary)
School Field Day, May 20: all of the kindergarten students will be participating from 8:30 am till 1:00 pm. We have a change. Students need to have parents drop them off at Ellison Park (across and down a little from the school). All students will need to arrive at the park at 8:30 am and will be dismissed from the school at 1:00 pm (we walk back). They can wear shorts and shirts that are non uniform and running shoes. They need to bring a sack lunch with a drink in their backpacks to be eaten with the class at the park (please ensure it is in their backpack along with an extra bottle of water to bring to the park).
Please make sure your child has sunscreen applied before they get to the park.

Classroom Readers: Please return all the books by Tuesday, May 17. I need to keep them for next year. So if they are lost a replacement fee of 2.50 per book needs to be sent in with your child by May 17.

Dear Parents,

During this week and the following one we are going to review and practice everything for the test that is going to be next May 3.

So in MATH (we are going to count from 0-100; practice the missing numbers and which is bigger). 
LANGUAGE ART ( we are going to practice the vowels and the consonants, and be able to read uppercase and lower case letters as much as they can in one minute and they have to say the sound of each letter. Say the first and last sound of a word too).

PLEASE HELP THEM AT HOME, use if you want what I gave you today for homeworks.

Arts and crafts:  we have been making a butterfly and we have planted a bean.

Music and dance:  We are learning a spanish  song called "Al jardin de la alegria", talking about spring. 
Show and tell:  We can bring whatever you want about bugs.
Spanish:  I am starting to make a big review.

Dear parents, I hope you enjoyed of your holidays.  You know because of the parent teacher conference my goals for the next two months, so we have to work very hard in the school and at home.

This is what we have done during all the week:
Language Art:  We have been reviwing the high frecuency words and the uppercase and lower case letters.
Math:  This week we have been making some adittions and subtraction problems.
Arts and crafts:  we have been making some farm animals using all the shapes.

Music and dance:  We are learning the spanish alphabet song and the song of the animals. 
Show and tell:  We are going to continue bringingsomething about spring.
Spanish:  We continued learning  the animal farm in spanish like caballo, pato, pollo, perro, gato, vaca, oveja, cerdo, conejo... and we are going to start with spring.
Remember: Please remember to bring the folders during the week, BEFORE  next Friday.

 Homeworks are optional.

Please I want to make a spring craft with the children, for that reason I need an egg carton if you could bring one it will be fantastic.

This is what we have done during all the week:
Language Art:  We have been reviwing the high frecuency words, letters singing the alphabet and playing Bingo with the letters.
Math:  This week we have been practicing counting by tens and to 100. We have done some subtractions and additions. 

Arts and crafts:  we have finished the door hung and a cowboy or cowgirl picture and we have done a spring cadeneta.
Music and dance:  We are learning the spanish alphabet song and the song of the animals. 
Phisical Education: We have been working the coordination.
Show and tell:  Children need to  bring something about spring.
Spanish:  We started with alphabet. We have started with the animal farm in spanish like caballo, pato, pollo, perro, gato, vaca, oveja, cerdo, conejo. 
Remember: Please remember to bring the folders during the week, BEFORE  next Friday. Homeworks are optional.

This is what we have done during all the week:
Language Art:  We have been reviwing the "vowels", especially the vowel Ii.
I have sent at home with the homeworks a card, please help to your child to writte some sentences about him or her, make a picture and bring it to the school before friday. Thank you.

Math:  This week we have been practicing counting by two and I have introcuced counting  by five. We have done some subtractions and additions. 

Arts and crafts:  we are doing a door hung and a cowboy or cowgirl picture.
Music and dance:  We are learning the spanish alphabet song. 

Show and tell:  Children need to  bring something about animal farm.

At first, I want to tell you CONGRATULATIONS! Our classroom took the first place in the Box Tops Contest. I am really very proud because of your help and cooperation. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Language Art:  We have been reviwing the "vowels", especially the vowel Uu.
Remember that you have to bring every Tuesday and Friday the books for the reading program.  

Math:  This week we have been practicing the subtraction and the addition. We are going to start counting by two. 

Arts and crafts:  we made a cowgirl and cowboy.
Music and dance:  We danced a spanish cowboy dance called "No rompas mas mi pobre corazón"

Spanish:  We finish with the healthy food and seasons.

Dear Parents,

Here are some of the things the children have been working on this  week.
Language Art:  We have been learningthe letter "Yy" and letter "Ee". And we have been reviewing the Hihg Frecuency Words and we are writting a history by ourself.
Next week we start the home reading program. The children will bring a book home on Tuesday and need to return it on Friday where they will recieve another book to read for the weekend. The home reading program will continue till the end of the school year. Please look for your child's first reader on Tuesday, Feb, 8. Instructions will be in their plastic bag.
Math:  This week we have been learning about addition, next week we start with the subtraction.
Social Studies: We have been talking about healthy food, ask them about to eat the five colors. We had had a visit of a dad in the afternoon class and he has teaching us about his job in the emergency hospital.

Science: This week the children learned about sings left behind when an animal has been there. We learned lost of information about this as well at the Ogden Nature Center.
Arts and crafts:  we have made a pinecone bird feeders.
Music and dance:  We are learning a spanish song about food.
Show and tell: The children need to  bring something that start with the letter Zz or Qq.

Spanish:  We continue with the healthy food and seasons.

Dear Parents,

Here are some of the things the children have been working on this  week.
Language Art:  We have been learningthe letter "Vv". And we have been reviewing the Hihg Frecuency Words and we are writting a history by ourself.
Math:  This week the children have been practicing numbers from 0 to 100, and learning about addition.
Social Studies: We have finished with the community helpers and we are going to talk about healthy food.
Arts and crafts:  we have finished to make a picture of a spanish painter called Velazquez.
Music and dance:  We are learning a spanish rhyme talking about the winter and we are going to learng a song about clothes.
Gym: We played with the balls practicing the coordination.

Show and tell: The children need to  bring something that start with the letter Vv.

Spanish:  We are going to start with the healthy food and seasons.

Remember: Please remember to bring the folders and the homeworks during the week, BEFORE  next Friday.
Fieldtrip: All classes of Kindergarten students will be going on their second fieldtrip to the Ogden Nature Center in Ogden on Wednwsday February 2. We will leave the school at 8: 15 a.m. and returning approx. 12:15 p.m. The students do NOT need to bring a lunch and they will be dismissed upon returning to the school. Childern should wear warm outdoor clothing as they will be outside for about 1 hour of the time. Snow pants, warm jackets, warm mittens, hats and snow boots will allow them to be warm and dry and better able to snowshoe and focus on the activities the Naturalist has planned for them  The entrance fee for the students will be $ 3.50 and the school will pay the cost of the school bus for our transportation. Permission  slips for the trip are due today, Friday, January 28. Parents please do not park in the round a bout at the front of the school when picking children up. The buses need to pull in and drop them off.
 
 
REMEMBER: we will leave the school at 8:15, so be in the school before that hour we can not wait because we have to start in the Nature Center at 9:00 o'clock.
And remember that we come back about 12:15 p.m.

Dear Parents,

Here are some of the things the children have been working on this  week.
Language Art:  We have been playing to identify the letters and do it very fast. And we have been reviewing the Hihg Frecuency Words.
Reading minutes: Please continue to keep track of your child's reading minutes and submit to me every Friday. When your child reaches 200 minutes they will recieve a special achievement bracelet from the school. This reading challenge goes until the last Friday in January.
Math:  This week the children have been practicing numbers from 0 to 100, I had the time with the chronometer. We have been playing to identify the numbers.
Social Studies: We started our community helpers and have learning about the various jobs that people have in our community. This Friday , we had a visit from a dietitian mum that talked about healthy food.we would still like to have a parent who is in the medical profession (ie.  nurse, doctor, vet, chef, farmer, mail carrier, dentist, hairdresser, plumber, pilot, military...) we would love to have you come and share for about 20 min. with the children (grandparents, aunts and uncles would be great as well). They enjoy this so much!! Next week will be our last week on community helpers so please let us know by e-mail and we can schedule a time for you to come in. Thanks!!! 
Arts and crafts:  we are going to continue making a picture of a spanish painter called Velazquez.
Music and dance:  We are learning a spanish song talking about the peace. And we are going to practice the dance called sevillanas.
Gym: We are going to learn a new spanish game called "A la zapatilla por detrás".
Show and tell: The children need to  bring something that start with the letter Jj.

Spanish:  We are going to review the comunity helpers and the clothes.

Fiesta grande: The Kindergarden will be having their Fiesta Grande on Friday, January 28. The children will be making 1  instrumental crafs and will need to bring 2 toilet paper rolls by Friday to make maracas. We will also be having tortilla chips and salsa to eat in the classroom. We are having a pinata and the children will each recieve 5 wrapped candies from the pinata to bring home.
Fieldtrip: All classes of Kindergarten students will be going on their second fieldtrip to the Ogden Nature Center in Ogden on Wednwsday February 2. We will leave the school at 8: 15 a.m. and returning approx. 12:15 p.m. The students do NOT need to bring a lunch and they will be dismissed upon returning to the school. Dear Parents,

Here are some of the things the children have been working on this  week.
Language Art:  We have been learning  the letter Vv. And we have been reviewing the Hihg Frecuency Words.
Reading minutes: Please continue to keep track of your child's reading minutes and submit to me every Friday. When your child reaches 200 minutes they will recieve a special achievement bracelet from the school. This reading challenge goes until the last Friday in January.
Math:  This week the children have been reviewing the numbers from 11 to 20. We have been counting from 0 to 100 and identifying the numbers. And we have been playing with missing numbers.
Social Studies: We started our community helpers and have learning about the various jobs that people have in our community. Last Monday, we had a visit from the Layton fire Dept, it was very interesting and funny. If you have a job that children might enjoy learning about (ie. police officer, nurse, doctor, vet, chef, farmer, mail carrier, dentist, hairdresser, plumber, pilot, military...) we would love to have you come and share for about 20 min. with the children. They enjoy this so much!! Please let us know by e-mail and we can schedule a time for you to come in. Thanks!!!

Show and tell: The children need to  bring something about the rest of the continents; ASIA, AUSTRALIA, OCEAN and ANTARTICA.
Spanish:  We are going to continue learning the clothes and the temperature.

Warm Clothes: With the cold weather now upon us it is very important that children bring warm outer clothing to wear, (hats or hoods, warm coats, warm gloves or mittens and boots). Little hands, toes, ears and bodies get cold easyly and the children have a 15 min. recess day to play and get some exercise. Please make sure that your child brings their indoor shoes to change into, as boots are left at the entrance to keep our rugs clean and dry for sitting and playing on.
Fieldtrip: All classes of Kindergarten students will be going on their second fieldtrip to the Ogden Nature Center in Ogden on Wednwsday February 2. we will leave the school at 8: 15 a.m. and returning approx. 12:15 p.m. The students do NOT need to bring a lunch and they will be dismissed upon returning to the school. They will take part in a Kindergarten program run by the Naturalist at the center called "Tracks". The children will learn to identify animal tracks in the snow and make their own tracks wearing snowshoes. They will also learn about and see some animal shelters used by various animals in the area. The center also serves as a sanctuary for various birds that have been injured. the entrance fee for the students will be $ 3.50 and the school will pay the cost of the school bus for our transportation.  

Homework: Dear parents I need your address in the envelop that I sent last week and your telephone number in the telephone, I want your children learn it. Please I am going to wait just the next week to have alls. Thank you.

Dear Parents,

Here are some of the things the children have been working on this  week.
Language Art:  We have been learning and reviewing the letters Ww and Xx, we have been practicing how to writte them and read them in a word. I am going to continue sending every week some words and phrases in a piece of paper to read at home with your child, parents, please I need your help with it, read with your children everyday. Leave that paper at home.
Reading minutes: Please continue to keep track of your child's reading minutes and submit to me every Friday. When your child reaches 200 minutes they will recieve a special achievement bracelet from the school. Tehe reading challenge goes until the last Friday in January.
Math:  This week the children have been reviewing the numbers from 11 to 20. We have been counting from 0 to 100 and identifying the numbers.
